Corruption have become a way of life in Nigeria to the extent that whenever a public office holder is accused of misappropriation of public funds the masses barely take it serious since they practically hear the same thing on a daily basis.

Election holds every four years and every administration comes with the promise of fighting corruption to a stand still but you discover that each administration is more corrupt than the previous one which leave a huge mountain for the anti-graft agencies to climb.

In Nigeria, corrupt officials are the most celebrated people, in fact, many of them end up getting chieftancy titles from their clan after leaving office.

The Nigerian economy is currently going through one of its worst phase in recent memory; with unemployment skyrocketing, the naira has lost over 40 percent of its value in the past 8 months; the masses are suffering from low purchasing power coupled with inflation that has soar like an eagle flying towards the mountain.

In times of economic hardship the masses are told to cut their coat according to their size while the political office holders live in opulency, traveling abroad for medicals, vacation while the masses are left to bear the brunt of whatever policy being undertaken to stabilise the economy.

The average Nigerian can barely afford Tertiary education these days even in government owned higher institutions as the various schools are now competing for who will charge the highest school fees.

Many now call Nigeria the poverty capital of the African continent due to the extreme poverty as well hunger in the country.

While it's easy for the masses to critise those in power, it is important to also note that leaders in any country are a product of their society; the probability of anybody within the same society doing better than his/her predecessor is very slim.
