It is no longer news that many Nigerians and Africans are bracing up for the upcoming African Cup of Nation slated to hold in The Ivory Coast while many hope to see a good performance from their various teams; Nigerians have been on this road in many occasions.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria is one of the most respected team on the continent due to the ever vibrant talents in its squad but this has not lead to desired results in many occasions, in fact many Nigerians are not always one hundred percent sure of their team going into any competition, this is due to failure of the team in important stages of the various competitions.

Expectations vs Outcome

Over the years Nigeria have failed to qualify for many important football competitions both within the continent and globally and in situations where they qualify they find it difficult to scale through the group stage huddle which normally lead many Nigerians to start performing one mathematical calculations or the other since the team often find itself in a precarious situation in the group stages time without number.

This usually happens when the Super Eagle fails to win it's first the group stage match. Then you hear Nigerians from all spheres of life propounding one mathematical theory or the other e.g. 'if we win our second game and the other team lose we should be able to qualify' or 'if we draw the next match and win the last match we should be able to qualify'. Time without number this has been the case with the Super Eagles.

The current Super Eagles squad possesses some array of players that if properly 'blended' would be a nightmare for any team facing them.

Would this competition be any different? I guess Nigerians will be the judge come Sunday the 14th of January, 2024.
